Greyhawk

The Great Kingdom is sundered, collapsed into chaos after the terrible Greyhawk Wars. An insane overking, advised by a malefic priesthood and conversing with fiends atop his malachite throne, slew and revivified
many of his local noble rulers as animuses, undead creatures of cold, hateful passions.

Great armies once the envy of the Flanaess wander the
lands as freebooting mercenaries and pillagers, stripping the once-abundant treasures of this great nation.
More than 300 years of slow degeneration and decline have climaxed in an appalling tragedy. Hundreds of
thousands of men, women, and children have perished, and many more will follow in the years ahead.

3.30.2009

Session 6

Lenith’s guards reveal themselves to have demonic or tiefling blood and hurl some threats at both the party and Lenith if she fails to kill us and then throw some electricity at us as we approach then dive into the water and swim away. Lenith refuses to surrender and after a brief struggle is cut down. We spend the rest of the day searching the chamber and trying to figure how to take the majority of the truly valuable items back.

With 5 days to go before the expected attack on town and far too many freed prisoners to have everyone ride the heroes decide to split the party. The guards will remain behind with all the freed prisoners and walk back bringing what loot they can while the party along with the hired cleric will ride back pressing the journey each day to arrive before the impending attack on the city. Before we can leave however Ogrith the Ogre decides he wants to leave, but demands to be paid first. A fight nearly ensues but Kirk manages to convince the Ogre to accept a more reasonable bribe to go away quietly.

Wealsun7th – after pressing the horses we manage to make it back to Muskgrad a full day ahead of the impending attack. However getting into the city is a problem and the line is very long and slow. Further the town guard will not let us in until someone from the Foothill Watch vouches for us. Bryll asks for Genyeth and Argoth tries to bribe the guards to speed things up while we wait. His lack of streetwise shows and they try to arrest him and he races off into the city. Eventually Genyeth arrives and after a brief summary of events clears us and starts to lead us into the town.

Before we make it to the headquarters there is a large explosion clearing the top third of the tower and then a meteor swarm hits it as well. The doors to the keep are barred and we can hear combat from inside. Bryll breaks the door down and we find watchman fighting watchman. Lord Camden’s forces working for the red blades are attempting a coup. They managed to sneak in through a tunnel in the Inn. As we fight our way through the party finds Argoth who was being held in the keep but set free. Together we defeat the lieutenants and others loyal to Camden and charge upstairs to defeat him.

We are too late however and reach the now open air chambers in time to see Camden smite down Lord Valkum. He then hurts the party badly with a fireball and put a magical wall of force between the party and himself which stopped us from interfering as he took what he wanted and then fled into a portal of some type. By the time the wall faded the battle was long since over and while the coup was stopped the watchmen were leaderless. Unhappy at the prospect but with no other options Genyeth takes over as the leader until a new head can be found. The city watch help bring about some order and those who tried to help the coup are arrested. However Camden is not found, Lucern the leader of the Red Blades denies any knowledge of the plot and condemns Camden and is let go without any evidence to hold him.

Eventually the guards left behind at the bandit cave return with the freed prisoners and several horses burdened with valuables but much of it is confiscated by the guild to help pay for repairs to the keep etc. For our efforts Argoth, Kirk, and Bryll are promoted within the guild and a letter of recognition is given to Tim to bring to his guild leaders.
