Greyhawk

The Great Kingdom is sundered, collapsed into chaos after the terrible Greyhawk Wars. An insane overking, advised by a malefic priesthood and conversing with fiends atop his malachite throne, slew and revivified
many of his local noble rulers as animuses, undead creatures of cold, hateful passions.

Great armies once the envy of the Flanaess wander the
lands as freebooting mercenaries and pillagers, stripping the once-abundant treasures of this great nation.
More than 300 years of slow degeneration and decline have climaxed in an appalling tragedy. Hundreds of
thousands of men, women, and children have perished, and many more will follow in the years ahead.

Session 10

Day 6 of the Richfest Festival (Midsummer), 586 CY

Argoth showed up at the watchmen tower having been raised without the funds. The exact reasons for this were not made clear to the others and all that is known is that he was given a “Quest” of some kind from the Clerics of St. Cuthbert. A messenger came almost immediately after him with news that Kallo had some information. He had learned that the missing captain (or his ghost) was seen in the city and the party set off for that section of town. When they arrived reality warped and split and a large worm like thing emerged from the street to attack. A caster of some sort was on a nearby building and summoned a second as the first was defeated. One of the 2 hounds was killed and reverted back to a statue in the fight. The caster jumped off the building and ran.

Argoth attempted to chase him down and lead the party back towards the bell tower chasing what we thought was the caster. It turned out to be a minor member of the Haskinare clan, one of the least pretentious noble houses who control much of the farming. He was incensed by Argoth’s attack on him (luckily it was only hindering not physically harmful) and promised reprisals but Argoth got away while he was still entangled by the spells used.

The party heads back and when near the shrine to Heironeous find a large magical cloud obscuring the location. Eleen (a paladin of Heironeous) starts to emerge only to be taken down and kidnapped by a robed figure in a patchwork looking outfit that seems to have coins sewn all about in it. The party charges after and gets split and lost in the cloud. A second caster hidden in the fog keeps sleeping Bryll until Kallo begins to stab the caster. Argoth then bashes his head in knocking him out. The paladin and her kidnapper are gone. We take the prisoner back to the Argoth’s place to question him. Nobody has any luck interrogating him. Bryll gets sickened by Tim’s methods and leaves to talk to gather information elsewhere. Eventually Kallo manages to charm the crazed man and convince him to talk. He rants about the blessed ones, the gates of chaos, and how the blessed hears the voice in dreams as well as something about bells, that we can not see and other items that make no sense. Like the kidnapper his outfit has lots of small missing circles in it. They appear to be small bite marks that coat his outfit and match long healed wounds all about on the prisoner. He also has a tattoo of 2 hands palms up and down and a sun on a crescent moon the mark of a cult of the one and five. We then bring the prisoner to the watchmen tower for holding in a cell.

Day 7 of the Richfest Festival (Midsummer), 586 CY

Kallo is able to get a little more information and we learn that the cultist is somehow related or connected to a bookshop that we spend several hours searching down, “reality wrinkle”. Inside the place is just wrong. The angles of the walls and bookshelves are unnatural. Argoth robs the senile old man running the place before we are able to make him understand what we are looking for. He claims to have some information and asks us to wait while he gets it. After a minute Bryll goes searching for him and finds he is gone. In the back room are stairs and doors one of which leads out. Other hides a passage down blocked by a Gibbering Mouther. We kill it and a cultist who comes down stairs while we are fighting. We go upstairs first and find Helliquin (the mage from the bandit’s cave where Lilith was) as well as another cultist. Helliquin claims to be the leader of the cult and that she will reveal the secrets if we will join her as her lieutenants. She claims not to be evil and only trying to reveal the true secrets that she can’t tell us until we join. She does have the paladin because Ellen would not it them operate and besides Ellen was the source of many of the inane laws in this city so why not get rid of her.

A fight ensues and 3 cultists (including new ones who show up) are killed and 3 including Helliquen knocked out and captured. Downstairs were 2 last cultists and another Mouther which badly hurts stargazer before they are taken out. Also found are many records showing their plans as well as Ellen who is nearly catatonic from being exposed to the Mouther so long.
